Questions
What is the difference between a notice of race and sailing instructions?
The notice of race (RRS 89.2) tells competitors what they need to know before deciding to enter: rules, eligibility, entry, schedule, venue. The sailing instructions (RRS 90.2) tell them how the racing will run. Something stated in the notice of race does not need to be repeated in the SIs.
Is this an official notice of race template?
No. It follows RRS Appendix J and World Sailing’s Notice of Race Guide, in our own words. Check your national authority’s prescriptions and your class rules, and have the result reviewed before you publish it. It is not legal advice.
What does the data protection paragraph cover?
Who processes the entry data, for what, and how photos and results are published. If you track the race with VesselSOS Racing it adds that competitors’ positions are shown on the race page as the organiser sets it, that contact details are visible only to the race office for safety and deleted 30 days after the race. Adapt it to the law that applies at your venue.
Why does the download ask for my email?
The preview and the copy-to-clipboard are free and anonymous. Only the Word and PDF files ask for an email and your club; we write to you about the VesselSOS Racing pilot, no newsletter.
